Company overview & History

Specialising in vehicle recovery, rescue, storage and repair. The Mansfield Group originates from 1978 where it commenced operations in the village of Biggin, Derbyshire, providing all manor of garage services for Car, Commercial and Plant.  In 1988 the company relocated to a purpose built facility in Buxton, Derbyshire with support centres in Ashbourne and Macclesfield. Over the last 10 years we have specialised in vehicle recovery, rescue, storage and repair providing services to all the major Motoring Organisations, Police, Council and Government Agencies. Our business is driven by the passion and vision of its owners Darrell and Joanne and this has passed down to the dedicated team that support and deliver on their mission.

Vehicle Recovery Today

Today our geographical footprint is managed by our Nine Service Support Centre's across the North West, North, South Yorkshire, Cheshire, Greater Manchester,Staffordshire and West Midlands. Having concentrated on the larger demographical areas we have again relocated our head office to Stoke on Trent and opened centres in Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham. During October 2010, we expanded into South Yorkshire and added three sites in Sheffield, Doncaster and Barnsley to our network. We have grown considerably making us one of the largest dedicated vehicle Rescue & Recovery operators in the UK. and Europe.

Over the years we have continued to invest heavily in new Technology, with all rescue and  recovery vehicles fitted with state of the art satellite tracking systems (to aid rapid deployment) and Mobile Data Terminals, all rescue and recovery incidents are deployed from our Operations Centre, electronically to our vehicles, resulting in improved service levels and customer satisfaction, further strengthening the commercial success of The Mansfield Group. In addition we have recently installed a modern call recording system into our Operations centre to further enhance the quality of service we provide to our customers and business partners.

All of the above have proved to be a natural progression for the development of our business and aspirations of The Mansfield Group.

The main core business is to provide vehicle recovery and rescue services to all major motoring organisation’s and specialist vehicle rescue, recovery and storage services to the Police, Council and Government agencies. In more recent times our focus has been geared   towards re-mobilisation of members with fully qualified ATA patrol’s and 24/7 workshop repair facilities at each site. We feel that long distance recoveries are the last option as we promote more customer service orientated choices, such as roadside repair, workshop repair with the option to take advantage of our customer lounge area’s or chauffeur service to shopping centre’s/restaurants for longer repairs, to courtesy cars and overnight accommodation before long distance recoveries, which we feel moves a problem as a repair and mobilisation is still required for the member. The impact on our carbon footprint is also greatly increased by this service.

The group employs approximately 170 staff and operates a fleet of over 120 specialist rescue and recovery units.

The average age of our fleet is just over 18 months old and the equipment we use incorporates the latest technology available.

We do not operate a vehicle with less than a Euro 3 engine, many now are Euro 4 and Euro 5 equipped, demonstrating our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint.
