On the 6/9/2010 at 09.50am our Operation's centre received a call from Staffordshire police asking us to attend a fully loaded, over turned cement mixer on the A34 Aston island in the town of Stone.
Our Operation's centre deployed incident Manager Brett Mansfield and two heavy rescue technicians, Martin Maclean and Anthony Weaver to attend in two Scania's, one 1075 rotator and a 1060 rotator, in order to perform a fast and safe recovery. The team arrived on scene at 10.18am and assessed the situation, taking into account any hazards so they could approach the recovery in the best way. They immediateley ensured that the surrounding traffic and pedestrians were at a safe distance and re directed whilst the specialist vehicles were positioned.
The heavy rescue team set up the 1060 rotator to perform a reverse roll with the deck winch used to control the uprighting of the truck. The 1075 was used to help the lift of the casualty vehicle. In no time at all, they had the casualty vehicle upright and cleared away the debris, so the road was safe and normal traffic flow could resume.
They then loaded the casualty vehicle onto the underlift of our 1075 rotator and the recovery was completed by returning to our nearest Service Support Centre, in Stoke on Trent .
The road was re opened at 11.32am.
